Product Overview

This series of Inconel 660 (A‑286) forged bars are manufactured by open‑die / closed‑die forging from air‑melted or VIM‑VAR vacuum‑remelted ingots, followed by solution treatment and rapid quenching to achieve homogeneous austenitic matrix microstructure. Standard delivery is solution‑treated soft forged blank ready for CNC machining. Final high‑temperature mechanical properties are achieved by subsequent precipitation aging heat‑treatment.

Inconel 660 also widely known as A‑286, is precipitation‑hardening iron‑nickel‑chromium superalloy. Titanium‑molybdenum together with vanadium‑boron micro‑alloying forms gamma‑prime precipitates to deliver outstanding creep‑rupture performance under sustained high‑temperature load. Two mainstream solution cycles: Class A(899 °C) for higher room‑temperature ductility; Class B(982 °C) optimized for maximum creep‑rupture strength at elevated temperature. Widely processed into high‑temp bolts & studs, gas‑turbine component blanks, engine exhaust hardware, thermal‑system springs and petrochemical high‑temperature fixtures for aerospace, gas‑turbine, power‑generation and heavy‑duty thermal‑process industries.

Material Grade Characteristics – Inconel 660 (A‑286, UNS S66286 / 1.4980)

  • Iron‑nickel‑base precipitation‑hardening superalloy, strength improved by γ‑prime phase precipitates after aging treatment
  • Two standard solution‑treated baseline conditions: Class A (899 °C) for good room‑temp ductility; Class B (982 °C) for superior high‑temperature creep‑rupture performance
  • Excellent creep‑rupture strength & oxidation‑resistance for continuous service up to 700 °C
  • Vanadium‑boron micro‑alloying stabilizes grain boundaries and improves stress‑rupture ductility
  • Vacuum‑remelted VIM‑VAR melting route available for aerospace critical‑part low‑inclusion requirements
  • Acceptable weldability; post‑weld full solution‑treat plus aging is recommended for maximum high‑temperature service performance
  • Not suitable for heavy sulfur‑containing corrosive flue‑gas environments
