Product Overview

This series of Inconel 718 rings and hollow bars are manufactured by hot forging / hot piercing extrusion. Raw ingot can be air‑melted or VIM‑VAR vacuum‑remelted for high‑purity requirement. Material is solution‑annealed and water quenched to get homogeneous austenitic matrix microstructure. Standard delivery is solution‑annealed soft blank for rough‑and‑finish CNC machining; full mechanical properties are achieved by subsequent standard two‑stage precipitation aging heat‑treatment.

Inconel 718 (UNS N07718 / 2.4668) is the most widely‑used precipitation‑hardening nickel‑base superalloy. Main strengthening phase is metastable γ″(Ni₃Nb) precipitates. It achieves excellent combination of high tensile strength, creep‑rupture property, fatigue performance and moderate corrosion resistance. It is approved for NACE sour‑gas service. Widely processed into rolled seamless rings, hollow‑bar sleeves, turbine‑casing segments, downhole tool blanks and high‑strength pressure‑component preforms for aerospace gas‑turbine, offshore oil‑gas, energy‑generation and high‑pressure process‑equipment industries.

Material Grade Characteristics – Inconel 718 (UNS N07718 / 2.4668)
  • Gamma‑double‑prime (γ″) precipitation‑hardening superalloy; peak strength realized via standard two‑stage aging after solution annealing
  • Stable high strength, creep‑rupture and fatigue performance, service range: cryogenic to max continuous 650 °C
  • NACE MR0175 compliant; good resistance to H₂S sour‑gas, chloride pitting and stress‑corrosion‑cracking for oil‑gas downhole components
  • Good weld‑process‑ability; low hot‑cracking risk, post‑weld solution‑anneal plus aging is required to restore full mechanical properties
  • Optional VIM‑VAR double vacuum remelting ingot, reducing non‑metallic inclusions for aerospace critical‑part fatigue‑performance requirements
  • Solution‑annealed quenched delivery guarantees low residual stress and good machinability for ring‑hollow‑bar forging blank
  • Reminder: Not optimized for heavy‑reducing mineral‑acid long‑term immersion service
